This is just part of regular maintenance. Once a year at the start of winter you can dip all your trees in a dilute lime sulphur solution to kill any bugs, and prevent any mold while the tree is in dormancy for the winter. It's not necessary to do if you don't want to and it's more important for trees with tender bark or with exposed deadwood
